Le Yasur qui a la réputation d'être le volcan actif le plus accessible au monde présente néanmoins des menaces pour les populations qui vivent autour et les touristes qui vont l'observer.

Yasur, who has the reputation of being an active volcano with easy access, can also be a threat to tourists and to the population living nearby.

Les niveaux d'alerte volcanique / Volcanic Alert Levels (VAL)

Chaque visiteur doit-être conscient que le risque zéro n'existe pas pour une observation rapprochée d'un volcan en activité comme le Yasur.

Every visitor must be fully aware that there is no "zero hazard" when approaching an active volcano such as Yasur.

 

VAL	DESCRIPTION

0	Faible ou très faible activité		Very low or low-level activity
1	Activité "normale". Approcher le cratère peut être dangereux.		Normal activity, approaching the crater may be dangerous.
2	L'activité est de modérée à très forte. Des bombes peuvent être expulsées hors du cratère. L'accès en bordure du cratère est fermé.		Moderate to high activity. Lava bombs may land beyond the crater rim. Access to the crater is closed.
3	Phase éruptive très importante. Projections des bombes à des distances de plusieurs centaines de mètres. Très fortes explosions, panaches importants, possible retombées de cendres. L'accès à la zone sommitale est fermé.		Severe eruptive activity. Lava bombs may be projected hundreds of meters from the crater. Major explosions may occur, followed by large plumes causing thick ash deposits. Access to the whole summit zone is closed.
4	Très importante éruption qui affecte une très large zone autour du Yasur avec des impacts possibles sur d'autres parties de Tanna et des îles proches.		Major eruption, capable of affecting a large area around the volcano itself, with possible impact on other parts of Tanna and neighbouring islands.
